José Manuel Pérez Tornero
José Manuel Pérez Tornero (born 1954) is a Spanish researcher and journalist. He is Professor of Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
He is a former president of RTVE (Radio y Televisión Española/Spanish Radio and Television Corporation). He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies.
He was the director of the research group on Communication and Education (Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación) supported by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. The scientific contribution of the group to research is well acknowledged internationally. Prof. Tornero promotes collaboration between researchers all around the world (Europe, South America, Mediterranean countries, Africa, USA, and other regions).
Since 2004, Prof. Tornero has been known as a prominent expert on media and digital literacy. The European Commission invited him to provide his expertise to this line of work in Europe and to join other researchers. He has been a member of the Expert Group on “Media Literacy” of the European Commission, and also of the Expert Group of UNESCO. He has participated in different studies related to the field, and he has developed projects and activities oriented towards the creation of a framework for developing policy advice.

Sharon Adetutu Omotoso
Sharon Adetutu OMOTOSO is an Associate Professor in Media and Gender Studies. Currently at the Institute for Media Studies, Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany as an experienced researcher on the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, Sharon heads the Women’s Research and Documentation Centre (WORDOC) at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan. Her works integrate the transdisciplinary field of Applied Ethics, Media/Information Literacy, Gender Studies, African politics and Philosophy. On these, she serves on editorial boards of scholarly journals and consults for international agencies including UNESCO, UN Women, NATO STRATCOM COE among others. She is widely traveled and has published significantly in her areas of research. Sharon is also a Research Associate with Institute for the Future of Knowledge, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Lateef Adekunle Adelakun
Lateef Adekunle Adelakun is an Associate Professor in New Media & Development Communication. He is currently the Head of Department of Mass Communication, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Lateef was the immediate past Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences in NOUN. He holds a PhD in Media Studies from University of Malaya, Malaysia. His multidisciplinary research effort focuses more on new media, development communication, communication theories, and media literacy. His contributions to research excellence are globally acknowledged. He has served as one of the UNESCO experts that developed curriculum and instructional materials for short certificate courses in Digital Media & Information Literacy. He also served as one of the UNESCO pedagogues for the short certificate courses in Digital Media & Information Literacy. His research works are well revered with a laudable progression of impact index. Lateef is dexterous in many social science research tools such as Endnote, Mendeley, NVivo and SPSS and he is a consultant in data analysis for researches in social sciences and humanities.

Sunday Adejoh Baba
Sunday Adejoh Baba, fildc, fnipr, is a distinguished public servant, scholar, and communication expert. He holds a B.A. (Hons) in English from Bayero University, Kano, an M.A. in English, and a Ph.D. in New Media Research. Joining the Federal Civil Service in 1992, he rose to the position of Director in 2017; holding various key roles, including CEO of the National Institute of Public Information, Acting General Manager of the National Theatre, and Director of Public Communications and National Orientation. An accomplished trainer and speaker, Sunday Adejoh developed and taught courses on New Media, Information Management, and Leadership, and has delivered numerous papers on Public Relations and Crisis Management. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the Institute of Leadership and Development Communication. Following his retirement in 2024, he was appointed Special Assistant (Administration) to the Hon. Minister of Information.

Olufemi A. Peters
The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria is Professor Olufemi Ayinde Peters, a Professor of Chemistry with emphasis on degradation and stabilization of polymers.
He was schooled at the University of Ibadan, the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and at the Victoria University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology, United Kingdom.
He has over 40 years of post-graduate experience in teaching, research, administration and management of higher education in general and in Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) in particular. His work experience spans career roles at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, (ABU), Nigeria; at the National Open University of Nigeria, including as visiting Professor to the Department of Chemistry, University of Lagos, Lagos and a five year tenured appointment at the National level as the Executive Director and Chief Executive at the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI), Ilorin, Nigeria.
These roles have enabled him to demonstrate excellent scholarships in the fields of chemistry, polymer science and technology, agriculture and as well as in open and distance learning fields.
He is a Fellow of the distinguished Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), and a member of other professional bodies: The Polymer Institute of Nigeria (PIN); the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE); Materials Science & Technology Society of Nigeria (MSN), and the Institute of Public Analyst of Nigeria (IPAN). He had once served as a member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (2007).
He is widely travelled.

Jane-Frances Obiageli Agbu
Professor Jane-Frances Obiageli Agbu is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in higher education and open and distance learning (ODL). She currently serves as an Adviser for Higher Education at the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), based in Vancouver Canada, where she supports commonwealth members states to design and implement innovative programmes geared towards the attainment of SDG4 “ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities”. She holds a PhD and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Lagos, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nigeria. She rose through the rank to full Professorship of Psychology in 2019 at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), where she served in many capacities as Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences; Centre Director; Head of Department; Head of Open Educational Resources (OER) Unit. She also served in many committees and has been visiting scholar in many institutions. She held an International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), Chair in Open Educational Resources (2017-2021); was a member of the Board of Open Education Global (OEG), 2018-2022; and a Laureate of the 2016 Open Leadership Institute of Creative Commons. Her collaborations with UNESCO are in the areas of OER and MOOC development for MIL and she currently serves as board member of the UNESCO OER Dynamic Coalition. Professor Agbu is from Onitsha, Anambra state, Nigeria and a mother of three.

Siwei Lyu
Dr. Lyu is a SUNY Empire Innovation Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He is currently the Director of UB Media Forensic Lab (UB MDFL) and the founding Co-Director of Center for Information Integrity (CII) of University at Buffalo, State University of New York and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR), the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) and a distinguished member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). His research interests include digital media forensics, computer vision, and machine learning. Dr. Lyu earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College and both his M.S. and B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Information Science, respectively, from Peking University, China.

HAMZAT Fatahi Owolabi
HAMZAT Fatahi Owolabi holds B.A in English Studies from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, MSc in Mass Communication from National Open University of Nigeria and a professional Masters in Public Administration from O.A.U. He started his career as News Reporter in Radio Bayelsa. He taught at Nigerian Turkish College and later joined National Council for Art and Culture before he moved to National Open University where he pursues his academic interests in New Media, Fake News and Media Criticism. He is currently a PhD student of NOUN

Oliver Chuks ODIEGWU-ENWEREM, PhD
Dr Odiegwu-Enwerem is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from University of Nigeria, Nsukka; his master’s degree from University of Lagos and his doctorate from Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. He has published over 26 articles including book chapters in local and international indexed outlets; attended over 10 local and international conferences and received about seven competitive institutional research grants/sponsorships. He was a specialist resource person at NOUN’s first MOOC on Media and Information Literacy in 2019 at Abuja. Before coming into academics, Chuks spent about 20 years as senior PR/Corporate Communications Consultant to some top-performing Nigerian companies like Airtel, Etisalat (later 9 Mobile), Nigerian Breweries, Income Electrix, Futureview, among others – counseling Senior Management, managing reputation, conducting research and training in-house PR teams. Dr Enwerem’s research interests are in Media Effect, Media and Information Literacy, Peace Journalism, Conflict-sensitive communication, Open & Distance Learning, Lifelong Learning and collaborative relationship between industry and the academia.

Dr. Lateef Adekunle Adelakun
Lateef Adekunle Adelakun is currently doubled as the Head of Mass Communication Department and the Director of International Media and Information Literacy Institute. He is a media scholar and consultant and his area of specialisation is in new media and development communication. He earned his PhD in Media Studies from University of Malaya, Malaysia; Master and B.Sc. degree in mass communication from University of Lagos, Nigeria. Lateef has about 14-year university teaching and research experience from three different universities. He was an Assistant Professor in the Aspiring Academic Programme of the University of Malaya Malaysia. His research focuses are impactful and translate to development. He has been involved in studies related to development communication and communication theories most especially in the area of new media. He has demonstrated professionalism in research with more than thirty of his research works published in reputable journals. His research works are well revered with a progressive increase in citation index and h-index. He is also credited with book chapters and he has developed many course materials (In book form) in the area of media laws international communication and world media system as well as Development Communication for Open and Distant Learning resources. Lateef is dexterous in many social science research tools and software packages such as Endnote, Mendeley, N’Vivo and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). He is very proficient in data gathering, analysis, sorting, manipulation, discursion, and reporting.

Prof. Jonathan E. Aliede
Jonathan E. Aliede, with the National Open University of Nigeria, is a Professor of Mass Communication, specialises in Advertising and Public Relations. He possesses BA and MA in Mass Communication, MSc in Public Relations, from University of Nigeria and PhD in Mass Communication from Benue State University, Makurdi. Prof Aliede’s enormous academic and industrial experiences span over three decades in the field of communication education and administration in the Department of Mass Communication, Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, Department of Mass Communication, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki; Ebonyi State Newspapers and Publishing Corporation, Abakaliki, as a General Manager and National Open University of Nigeria. He is a member of many professional bodies, including Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON); Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) and Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (ICA). Prof Aliede has numerous reputable publications. He is a Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (ICA), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and African Council for Communication Education (ACCE).

Simbiat Abidemi ADEMUYIWA
Simbiat Abidemi ADEMUYIWA is a Lecturer 1 in the Department of Mass Communication Faculty of Social Sciences, at the National Open University of Nigeria. Her area of Specialization is Development Communication.
She studied Communication and Language Arts at the University of Ibadan and on her PhD at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
